Big Bear, CA

P1050307As it is my last weekend of summer, and Nina and I were craving a change in scenery, we took a day trip to Big Bear. Who needs a boyfriend, right?

The first thing we did was hike Castle Rock….as soon as we found it (we walked almost a mile in the wrong direction before we figured out where we were going). It is a super quick and easy hike, unless you aren’t used to the altitude like us. So worth the views! And so many fun boulders to climb!

After the hike we went kayaking in the Marina, and did not take our phones – thus, no photos of us kayaking. But here’s another photo of Nina in front of some trees: I really love trees for a lot of reasons. Every time I look at a really beautiful tree I think of one of my favorite bible verses, Jeremiah 17:7-8

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Such a good reminder of what makes us strong and what really feeds us. Anyway, this next week will probably be completely packed with finalizing recruitment details and what not. Gotta go be busy!
