I can’t believe I only have 2 months left in this incredible place! Washington, D.C. definitely has my heart and I’m more than ready to make that move in August, but it’s really been hitting me lately how much I’m going to miss Santa Barbara and how lucky I am to have called it home for the past 4 years. One of the best things about Santa Barbara is how it’s just completely surrounded by so much beauty. Since I can see the ocean every day from my house, I love to head the other way and explore the mountains right behind me.
Inspiration Point is one of the most popular hikes in Santa Barbara. I posted a photo of my mom and I two years ago when we hiked it on Mother’s Day, but it’s been fun to explore other ones. Here are two of my favorites:
Yesterday, Haley woke up while I was already drinking my coffee and as soon as she rolled out of bed (pretty sure her eyes were still half closed) I said “we’re going on a hike.” The best thing about Hal is she can’t say no to anything, especially an adventure! We decided to try Cold Springs Trail since we had never done it before, but it turns out…you have to walk a LONG way to get to the trail head and we were pretty content with that rock hide-out we found about halfway there, so we hung out there for a while and went back down :-) So technically the hike we did was called Saddelrock. It was definitely enough of a work out for us…we are both sore today. And that VIEW!! Those TREES! I mean come on, Santa Barbara!
Ok Ok Lizard’s Mouth isn’t necessarily a “hike” but it’s one of the best views out there. It’s a little bit of a drive and just a short walk across some cool rocks, and there’s tons of huge boulders to sit on and enjoy the view. I shared some from photos the first time Haley and I went to Lizard’s Mouth for sunset last year (we even brought our own dinner, it was romantic). You just honestly can’t beat this view. The pictures above were taken on a cloudy day, which made the view even cooler in my opinion!
Psalm 8:3-9 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
